Roosevelt E. Hunt Sr.

No More Panhandle Eastern!

After 30+ years at Panhandle Eastern Roosevelt is finally doing what he always wanted to do. The first priority for was the he wanted to be free to see the United States and get paid to do so. After several conversations with dad his biggest concern was his health and freedom. Although he stayed at panhandle for so long and was comfortable where he was he wanted the freedom to do what he wanted to do when he wanted and his new profession allows him to do so. I think it's very dangerous and wish he would find something else however you all know dad will do what he wants to do as evident by his continued to ride his motorcycle (which I wish he would give up also, I'm kidding by the way).

Loves Them Cars And Bikes!

I'd have to say dad has kept this motorcycle longer than he's had any vehicle he's ever owned. I think he's had it now about 3 years and still going. So I would say he's finally found a vehicle that he really loves. I asked him about his motorcycle riding and he said, "Son I've been riding so long it's like second nature to me". I asked him about his saftey and concerns while riding his motorcycle in such a big city and on the road. "I have to say it's a lot different than riding in Liberal or in a small city but you have to be more aware of your surroundings because the people in cars don't watch for you or they misjudge your speed at times". "I realize how fragile we are so I try to ride always wearing a helmet and be as cautious as I can, and besides with what I'm doing now I don't get to ride as much as I like to, which I guess reduces the risk because the less you ride the less you are at risk of something happening". As you all know we did loose a cousin in a motorcycle accident earlier this summer and our prayers go out to his immediate family.

High School Days Graduated from Liberal High School Liberal Kansas in the spring of 1972. Was active in track in field in Junior High however didn't participate in High School athletics to pursue job opportunites. (This man loves to work!)

Family Man many stories have been passed on over the years. There are a few that come to mind. My favorite and don't know if it was a joke or not was the story Uncle William told about dad having a pet duck that followed him around all the time when they lived in Wichita. Well the stoy ends with dad finally getting tired of the duck following him around and slamming him in a fence. Wow!
